Episode Fifty-Eight: Cody Kearsley

Episode Fifty-Eight: Cody Kearsley

Cody Kearsley has built his acting career subverting expectations around high school jocks. As the sexually fluid Moose Mason on The CW’s Riverdale, Cody brought eloquence and energy to an iconic comic book character re-imagined for a Millennial audience. He had a similar experience inhabiting Turbo Bro Jock on Daybreak, the brilliantly bonkers Netflix series about teenagers fighting for what they want in the aftermath of a bomb blast that wiped out almost all of the adults. Cody’s characters often challenge out-dated ideas around adolescent maleness, and show that you can be a jock and kiss boys and be confident in your masculinity all at the same time. Cody honed his craft in a Fame-type performing arts college in Los Angeles, and Vancouver audiences are getting to know him through his theatre company, Vagrant Players. So who is Cody Kearsley? Is he Moose? Is he Turbo Bro Jock? Is he a theatre nerd? How did he get here? Where’s he taking us next? Sabrina Furminger sits down with Cody Kearsley to find out.
