Episode Forty-Eight: Ben Ratner

Ben Ratner is an award-winning actor, writer, director, and producer. As an actor, he’s performed in more than 100 film and television projects, and his filmography includes leading roles in feature films that have played at TIFF, Sundance, and Berlin. As a writer-director, Ben has helmed two theatrically released feature films: Down River, and Moving Malcolm. There was also his recent short film Ganjy, a hard-hitting short drama about friendship and boxing that he wrote, starred in, and directed. Ganjy premiered at the 2016 Vancouver International Film festival, was picked up for international sales by Network Ireland Television and was bought by CBC. Ben directed Robson Arms for CTV, created and developed three television series for Canadian networks, and currently has two more series and two feature films in development. He’s the recipient of the UBCP/ACTRA John Juliani Award for Outstanding Achievement, and he’s currently working with multiple award-winning stunt legend Danny Virtue on a one-man stage show for Casey Wright, a 19-year-old who was born with cancer and has spent his whole life fighting the disease and helping to raise money for other kids and adults with critical illnesses.
