Episode Seventy-Two: David Lewis

Episode Seventy-Two: David Lewis

It’s difficult to categorize actor David Lewis. Is he a comic actor? We’ve certainly seen him be funny: in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency; as Lance in Morning Show Mysteries; as the perplexed dad in half of the commercials that are filmed in Vancouver. But he’s also an incredibly powerful dramatic actor, as evidenced by his performance in Unspeakable, Robert Cooper’s gripping miniseries about Canada’s tainted blood scandal. David has also done his fair share in the horror realm, from Karen Lam’s creepy Evangeline to the most recent Child’s Play film, in which he faced off with a Chucky doll driven mad by AI. In what YVR Screen Scene Podcast host Sabrina Furminger considers one of her favourite interviews of all time (no joke!), the Leo Award-winning actor reflects on his ability to jump between genres, why redheads are the butt of so many jokes, why Karen Lam wants to kill him in everything, as well as his wacky childhood, elements of which sound like they were written by Martin Scorsese.
