Episode Nine: Paul McGillion

Episode Nine: Paul McGillion

Paul McGillion is one of the busiest actors in the Vancouver screen scene, but he’s also something of an enigma. Yes, he built a globe-spanning fan base playing Dr. Carson Beckett on Stargate Atlantis, but he’s played dozens of other characters in numerous television series and films, too. Recent additions to the Paul McGillion filmography include the Bollywood dance film Heartbeats, the Jason Momoa period piece Frontier, the critically acclaimed CBC miniseries Unspeakable (about Canada’s tainted blood scandal), The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco, and The Flash (on which he plays Earl Cox, and for which he was nominated for a 2019 Leo Award for Best Guest Performance Male Dramatic Series). So what exactly is a Paul McGillion role? In this wildly entertaining episode, Paul attempts to answer Sabrina Furminger’s burning question, while also reflecting on his time on Stargate Atlantis, his childhood, sci-fi conventions, and his longtime friendship with Tom Cavanagh (EdThe Flash).
